UNIVERSITY of ABERTAY DUNDEE
For several years the University of Abertay Dundee has patricipated in student exchanges with many universities within the Erasmus framework. Unfortunately the numer of British students willing and able to undertake Erasmus-Socrates exchanges has reduced over the past few years and this has resulted in a reduction in the number of approved exchanges. I am writing today with the good news that the University of Abertay Dundee (UAD) has taken a policy decision to increase opportunities for EU students to study with us in Scotland without them having to pay tuition fees - even if there is no Erasmus exchange available.

Thanks to the policy of the Scottish Government, students from any EU member State (including new members due to join in 2004) may study at the UAD on the same financial basis as local Scottish students. The Scottish Government department (Student Awards Agency for Scotland) will pay the tuition fee for suitably qualified EU students who wish to come to UAD to study the final year of a Bachelors Degree, provided they meet certain conditions (which in almost every case are very easy to satisfy). Consequently the student would not be charged any tuition fees by the UAD. The only costs would be those associated with living in Dundee - a city with an excellent quality of life and a much lower cost of living than most other UK cities.

Therefore, those of your students with a good standard of English (equivalent to TOEFL 600 or IELTS 6.0) and who have completed most of their undergraduated studies (usually three years of a four year degree) may enter the final stage (the fourth year) of a bachelors degree with honours. Alternatively, students who have completed the first two years of their degree studies may be able to study the Third Stage (year three) of a Bachelors Degree with us. All successful study results in the award of European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credit points (60 per Stage) for which your institution may grant recognition. In this way a student could graduate with both a degree from the University of Abertay Dundee as well a degree from their home institution.

Undergraduate degree studies are available in such subjects as Accountancy & Finance, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Computing, Economics, European Economy & Management, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Law, Sociology, Psychology, etc.

WYMIANA MIĘDZYNARODOWA

Wydział Telekomunikacji i Elektrotechniki prowadzi obecnie wymianę zagraniczną w ramach programu Socrates/Erasmus, w oparciu o umowy podpisane z Universität Politecnica de Catalunya Barcelona (Hiszpania), Linköpings Universitet (Szwecja) oraz Fachhochschule Brandenburg (Niemcy).

Zasady wymiany studenckiej są następujące:

Zasady kwalifikacji studentów na studia w ramach programu SOCRATES / ERASMUS ustala prorektor ds. nauki we współpracy z prorektorem ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich.
W wymianie studenckiej, w ramach programu SOCRATES / ERASMUS mogą uczestniczyć studenci wszystkich rodzajów i poziomów studiów, którzy mają zaliczony pierwszy rok studiów oraz są aktualnie zarejestrowani w uczelni.
Studenci zgłaszają chęć wyjazdu do odpowiedniego koordynatora wydziałowego, który posiada wykaz umów dwustronnych, obowiązujących w danym roku akademickim. Zapisy na wyjazd w następnym roku akademickim odbywają się do 10. czerwca bieżącego roku akademickiego.
Koordynator wydziałowy sporządza w porozumieniu z prodziekanem ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich oraz z osobami odpowiedzialnymi za realizację umów dwustronnych listę kandydatów do wyjazdu wraz z listą rezerwową, w formie protokołu, którą przekazuje do koordynatora uczelnianego do dnia 15 czerwca danego roku akademickiego.
Studenci zakwalifikowani do wyjazdu na studia zagraniczne muszą złożyć wniosek do prodziekana ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich swojego wydziału, celem ustalenia aktualnego stanu toku studiów kandydata, umożliwiającego podjęcie kształcenia zagranicznego.
Prodziekan ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich po konsultacji z koordynatorem wydziałowym wydaje, w oparciu o regulamin studiów, pisemną decyzję o indywidualnej organizacji studiów kandydatów.
Kryteria kwalifikacji:
• Ocena dotychczasowych wyników w nauce,
• Ocena znajomości języka obcego, potwierdzona certyfikatem podpisanym przez wytypowanego nauczyciela Studium Języków Obcych UTP lub innym wydawanym przez upoważnione instytucje przeprowadzające egzaminy państwowe,
• Motywacja studenta do wyjazdu na studia zagraniczne, wynikająca z przeprowadzonej rozmowy kwalifikacyjnej.
Terminy testów językowych przeprowadzanych przez UTP ustalane są corocznie przez koordynatora uczelnianego w porozumieniu ze SJO i podane do wiadomości studentom nie później niż do końca lutego.
Koordynator wydziałowy w konsultacji z prodziekanem ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich, przed wyjazdem studentów ustala program studiów zagranicznych, na który został zakwalifikowany student, uwzględniając aktualny plan studiów i ramowy program nauczania w UTP, obowiązujący studentów – kandydatów do wyjazdu.
Kandydat zobowiązany jest do wypełnienia następujących formularzy: “Application form” wraz ze zdjęciem, “Learning agreement”, “Transcript of records” z ostatniego roku, Certyfikat znajomości języka obcego. Formularze potwierdzone przez koordynatora wydziałowego studenci-kandydaci składają do koordynatora uczelnianego oraz kopię do właściwego dziekanatu.
Koordynator uczelniany wysyła dokumenty studentów – kandydatów na wyjazd do uczelni zagranicznych.
Wszelkie formalności administracyjne związane z wyjazdem, studenci załatwiają w Dziale Współpracy Międzynarodowej, u koordynatora uczelnianego programu Socrates / Erasmus.
Studenci wyjeżdżający na studia otrzymują grant na pokrycie różnicy kosztów utrzymania w kraju i za granicą. Pozostałe koszty studenci winni pokryć ze środków własnych, wykorzystując na ten cel również stypendia krajowe.
Zasady rozdziału grantu (wysokość i formy płatności) ustalane są na każdy rok akademicki w zależności od przyznanych środków z Komisji Europejskiej oraz zaleceń Narodowej Agencji Programu Socrates / Erasmus.
Po rozpoczęciu studiów w uczelni zagranicznej, studenci zobowiązani są do przesłania zawiadomienia o rozpoczęciu nauki do koordynatora uczelnianego oraz do odpowiedniego koordynatora wydziałowego, w ciągu 14 dni.
Wszelkie zmiany do ustalonego przed wyjazdem programu studiów muszą być zgłoszone do koordynatora uczelnianego w formie pisemnej i zaakceptowane przez odpowiedniego prodziekana ds. dydaktycznych.
Po powrocie z zagranicy, studenci składają w Dziale Współpracy Międzynarodowej u koordynatora uczelnianego oraz w dziekanacie swego wydziału dokument stwierdzający stan uzyskanych zaliczeń i egzaminów wraz z informacją o liczbie uzyskanych punktów kredytowych ECTS. Na podstawie tych dokumentów prodziekan ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich ustala zaliczenie lub nie zaliczenie danego semestru:
- w przypadku zgodności zaliczeń i egzaminów z ustaleniami przyjętymi przed wyjazdem, zostają one przepisane w sposób administracyjny do indeksu i całej dokumentacji obowiązkowej do przechowywania w teczce osobowej studenta,
- w razie wystąpienia różnic lub braku wszystkich zaliczeń czy egzaminów w stosunku do decyzji podjętej przed wyjazdem prodziekan ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich podejmuje nową decyzję zgodną z regulaminem studiów w UTP, ustalając nowe warunki i terminy ewentualnego uzupełnienia powstałych zaległości z danego semestru lub o skierowaniu na powtarzanie semestru.
Studenci zobowiązani są złożyć sprawozdanie z pobytu za granicą w wersji elektronicznej wg instrukcji, która stanowi załącznik do umowy podpisanej pomiędzy uczelnią a studentem.
Po otrzymaniu zaliczenia semestru zrealizowanego za granicą student ma prawo ubiegać się o krajowe stypendium socjalne lub za wyniki w nauce wg zasad określonych przez prorektora ds. dydaktycznych i studenckich.
Całość dokumentacji związanej z pobytem studentów w uczelniach zagranicznych przechowywana jest u koordynatora uczelnianego oraz w teczkach osobowych studentów w odpowiednich dziekanatach.
